Tasting notes: Sculpted red, layered with raspberry, plum and dark currant flavors supported by vibrant acidity and tannins. Minerally in the midpalate with a finish that lingers with notes of fresh crushed green herbs and savory spice.
Producer: Viña Cobos makes wines that are authentic expressions of the terroir from which they come. Paul Hobbs, founding partner and winemaker at Viña Cobos, has worked since 1988 in the exploration of the different terroirs of Mendoza, looking for the most distinguished regions in Luján de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco, to produce wines that uniquely express their origins.
Vineyard and Winemaking: The Marchiori Estate Vineyard is located in the sub-appellation of Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo in Mendoza. Sitting at an elevation of 3,264 feet the vines are spur pruned and utilize traditional furrow irrigation in the arid Andean climate. They sit in deep clay and sandy loam soils and are over 20 years old. Aged for 18 months in new French oak (65%) and second use oak (35%). Bottled unlined and unfiltered.
