Tasting Notes: A standout example of classic, terroir-driven Bordeaux, the 2022 Tellus Vinea delivers remarkable depth and character for its humble designation. Aromas of crushed blackberries, graphite, and dried herbs rise from the glass, framed by subtle hints of violets and tobacco leaf. On the palate, it is supple yet structured, offering a core of dark plum and currant layered with earthy undertones, stony minerality, and a whisper of spice. The texture is polished, with fine-grained tannins and a persistent, savory finish. A wine that overdelivers in every way, recalling the restrained elegance and authenticity of Bordeaux’s mid-century golden age.

Producer: Vignobles Pueyo, a family-owned estate since the late 19th century, has a rich history rooted in the Libournais region of Bordeaux. The Pueyo family's stewardship spans generations, with Château Belregard-Figeac being under their care since 1853. In 2010, Christophe Pueyo, representing the fifth generation, assumed control of the domaine. He initiated a transition to organic viticulture and modernized winemaking techniques, reflecting a commitment to both tradition and innovation. The estate's portfolio includes several labels, notably 'Tellus Vinea,' which exemplifies their dedication to crafting wines that authentically express the Bordeaux terroir.

Vineyard & Winemaking: The 'Tellus Vinea' Bordeaux Rouge is predominantly composed of Merlot, complemented by a touch of Cabernet Franc that adds structure and complexity. The grapes are sourced from vineyards bordering the Lalande de Pomerol appellation, characterized by gravel and limestone soils that contribute to the wine's distinct minerality. Following a three-day cold maceration, alcoholic fermentation proceeds over eight to ten days. The wine undergoes élevage in stainless steel and cement tanks, with multiple rackings to enhance clarity and purity. Prior to bottling, it is fined using egg whites, a traditional method that ensures stability and refinement.
