Region: Tuscany, Italy

Varietal: 52% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot

Tasting notes: Cabernet Franc dominates this blend (52%), with a high percentage of Merlot (30%) confirming the Left-bank style of this wine from Bibbona, on the northern side of Bolgheri. The 2016 was one of the best vintages of the past 10 years. The restrained cassis aroma is supported by eucalyptus leaf and mediterranean herbs such as helichrysum, with balsamic depth of cedar wood. Lively yet silky on the palate, it has natural refreshing acidity. Elegant, flawless and intensely Mediterranean. Drinking Window 2020 - 2030.

Producer: Marchese Lodovico Antinori discovered the property of Tenuta di Biserno near Bibbona, in the Alta Maremma area of Tuscany, in 1994, while looking for additional land to expand his Tenuta dell’Ornellaia vineyard. Given its proximity to Bolgheri, it is not surprising he was at first struck by the similarity in terroir. What he found in Bibbona, however, had so much potential, he was inspired to develop a quite different plan. With more hills and stones than nearby Bolgheri, this land appeared to be ideally suited to produce a new and different wine. In 2001 Lodovico and his brother, Piero, established Tenuta di Biserno as an elite wine estate.

Vineyard and Winemaking: Tenuta di Biserno is located in the commune of Bibbona in the Alta Maremma, bordering the historic village of Bolgheri to the north. The exceptional terroir, the unique Bolgheri Conglomerate soil, the natural conditions, the wind exposure, and the microclimate combine to allow vines of exceptional quality to grow, which in turn produces wines which are unique, authentic and distinctive.
