Region: Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Varietal: 100% Sangiovese
Tasting Notes: The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers aromas of ripe red fruits, such as wild cherries, complemented by hints of spices. The palate is warm, soft, and full-bodied, with strong yet velvety tannins and good persistence.
Producer: Founded in 1950, Tenute Silvio Nardi was among the first estates to bring Montalcino wines to a broader audience, playing a pivotal role in elevating the region's reputation. Under the leadership of Emilia Nardi since 1985, the estate has continued to innovate while honoring tradition, focusing on producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of Montalcino. The Rosso di Montalcino serves as an accessible expression of the estate's commitment to quality and authenticity.
Vineyard & Winemaking: The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is crafted from Sangiovese grapes sourced from various estate vineyards located in Montalcino, with exposures ranging from northwest to southeast at elevations around 984 feet. The diverse soils, composed of clay, schist, and limestone, contribute to the wine's complexity and structure. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels for several months, allowing the wine to develop its characteristic balance and elegance.
