Region: Champagne, France

Varietal: 100% Chardonnay

Tasting Notes: Roland Champion’s Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a textbook expression of Côte des Blancs Chardonnay—elegant, vibrant, and deeply mineral. On the nose, aromas of lemon curd, brioche, and delicate white flowers emerge alongside hints of crushed chalk. The palate is bright and textured, with flavors of ripe citrus, crisp apple, and subtle almond pastry. The fine bubbles lend a creamy mouthfeel, while the finish is long, precise, and refreshingly dry. This is a Champagne that impresses with both refinement and intensity, equally at home as an aperitif or with fine seafood.

Producer:The Champagne house of Roland Champion is a family-owned domaine located in Chouilly, one of the prestigious Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs. Founded in the early 20th century, the estate has remained in the Champion family for four generations, with a continued focus on producing elegant, terroir-driven Champagnes. Known for its dedication to tradition and craftsmanship, Roland Champion represents the enduring legacy of grower-producers in Champagne—those who both cultivate their own vineyards and vinify their wines, ensuring a direct connection between land and bottle.

Vineyard & Winemaking: This Blanc de Blancs is crafted entirely from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru vineyards of Chouilly, prized for their chalky soils and ideal southeast-facing slopes. Only the free-run juice is used, guaranteeing purity and finesse. Grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed on-site. The base wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve its precision and freshness. The wine is then aged sur lie in bottle for over 30 months, allowing it to develop complexity and a fine mousse before being disgorged with a low dosage to maintain its dry, mineral-driven character.
