Paolo Bea began commercial wine production in 1980, making wine the way his family always had: without pesticides, herbicides, additives, or manipulation of any kind. Before the natural wine movement had a name, Paolo was already one of its founding practitioners — a co-founder of Vini Veri, the non-interventionist producers' organisation. His son Giampiero, who oversees winemaking and commercial operations, has further defined the Bea philosophy with characteristic bluntness: \"Nature should be observed, listened to and integrated, not dominated. Harvest takes place in the middle of October, and the cuvaison is one of the longest in the region — extending 40 to 50 days — coaxing every layer of tannin, aromatics, and structure from the co-planted field blend. After spontaneous alcoholic fermentation without temperature control, the wine spends one year in stainless steel tanks, then two years in large oak barrels, and a final year in bottle before release. No fining, no filtration.
