Region: Columbia Valley, Washington

Varietal: 82% Semillon, 18% Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes: Refreshing and richly textured, this expressive Semillon shows vibrant kiwi, crisp green apple, melon, and fragrant honeysuckle set against a spicy, lemon zest character. On the palate, it is supple and energetic, replete with flavors of fresh fig and stone fruit, persisting to a balanced, succulent finish.

Producer: L’Ecole № 41 is a family-owned winery located in the historic Frenchtown School. Founded in 1983, L’Ecole was the third winery established in the Walla Walla Valley, with a focus on producing distinctive wines which display the typicity of Washington State and the unique terroir of Walla Walla Valley. Each handcrafted bottle reflects a commitment to quality, benefiting from over 40 years of wine making experience. At the forefront of excellence in the Walla Walla Valley, L’Ecole’s Estate Ferguson and Seven Hills Vineyards are certified sustainable and Salmon Safe. L’Ecole № 41 has garnered national and international accolades, including being recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as a Top 100 Winery of the Year seventeen times.

Vineyard & Winemaking: The largest appellation in eastern Washington is the Columbia Valley.  It consists of land comprising the river drainage of the Columbia River, including the Yakima, Snake, and Walla Walla Rivers.  In the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, the Columbia Valley is dry, sunny, and warm. L’Ecole contracts with a number of prestigious, mature vineyards, each with a high-level focus on quality.  Many of these vineyards were planted in the 1970s and early 1980s with vine-age now over 30 years.  L’Ecole works with the same blocks and rows of fruit each year, managed to their specifications, which contribute significantly to the trustworthy reputation of their wines vintage after vintage.
