Region: Walla Walla Valley, Washington

Varietal: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes: This small production Cabernet Sauvignon unveils captivating aromas of dark cherries, graphite, bay leaf, crushed rocks, and rose petals on the nose and presents a commanding profile in the mouth that is structured, dark, and inviting. Ferguson Vineyard’s signature basalt-driven minerality pervades the palate and is fleshed out by flavors of bramble berries and savory tobacco on a powerful and persistent finish.

Producer: L’Ecole № 41 is a family-owned winery located in the historic Frenchtown School. Founded in 1983, L’Ecole was the third winery established in the Walla Walla Valley, with a focus on producing distinctive wines which display the typicity of Washington State and the unique terroir of Walla Walla Valley. Each handcrafted bottle reflects a commitment to quality, benefiting from over 40 years of wine making experience. At the forefront of excellence in the Walla Walla Valley, L’Ecole’s Estate Ferguson and Seven Hills Vineyards are certified sustainable and Salmon Safe. L’Ecole № 41 has garnered national and international accolades, including being recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as a Top 100 Winery of the Year seventeen times.

Vineyard & Winemaking: Ferguson Vineyard, named in honor of founders Jean and Baker Ferguson, is a 42-acre Estate vineyard exclusive to L’Ecole.  The vineyard location is a stunning, high elevation site planted on a ridge of ancient lava flows overlooking a panoramic view of the Walla Walla Valley.  Approximately 30 acres have been planted so far.  This unique site, comprised of thin loess soil overlying fractured basalt, produces wines with bold, dark fruit, espresso, and tobacco notes, high natural acidity, rich texture, and excellent structure from the basalt derived minerality.
