Region: Burgundy, France

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

Tasting Notes: Aromas of autumn leaves, cinnamon, cloves, and red berries. Flavors of pomegranate jam, blood oranges, red cherries. While the wine’s color in the glass is a delicate ruby, aromas and flavors surprise with their forceful intensity.

Producer: Raphet wines are a Burgundy lover's Burgundy. They are best appreciated by those familiar with the light color and earthy flavors of classic Burgundian Pinot Noir. Raphet over decades has become the favorite Burgundy of customers and employees alike. They are wines that many feel "speak" especially and directly to them -- not dissimilar to a work of art. The wine's aromas depart from the traditional Burgundian violets to suggest a potpourri of cinnamon, clove and incense. The wine's light color and fine texture requires studied attention on behalf of the drinker.

Vineyard & Winemaking: Located in Gevrey Chambertin, ‘Les Grands Champs’ is a lieu-dit southwest of the village proper and surrounded on three sides by villages-level Gevrey vineyards. Soils are mostly red clay and silt. Hand-harvested from 40+ year old vines. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank. Aged in older French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Raphet Burgundy is handmade from field to bottle, with a rhythm and method that hasn’t changed in more than four generations.
