Region: Côtes du Rhône AOC, Southern Rhône Valley, France
Varietal: Grenache and Syrah blend
Producer: The Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel needs no introduction in the southern Rhône — five generations of stewardship at one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most celebrated estates have given them an almost unparalleled understanding of this landscape. The Famille Perrin range was built on the belief that the same organic farming philosophy that drives Beaucastel should extend all the way down to the most accessible wines in the portfolio. The 'Signature' is the organic expression of that belief — certified by Ecocert, sourced from family vineyards, and made with the same seriousness of purpose that defines everything bearing the Perrin name. This is not a volume wine dressed up in respectable clothing; it is a genuine extension of one of the Rhône's great winemaking families.
Vineyard & Winemaking: The Signature is sourced from organically certified vineyards located between Valréas and Vaison-la-Romaine, north of Orange, planted on chalk and clay soils that lend depth and purity of fruit. The 2023 vintage delivered ideal conditions across the southern Rhône — a mild winter, dry spring, and hot August and September allowed for perfect ripening, with harvest beginning August 22nd in excellent shape. The Perrin philosophy throughout is vineyard-first: organic farming for over 40 years at Beaucastel informed the approach here, with minimal intervention in the cellar preserving what the land naturally produces.
Tasting Notes: The 2023 Signature opens with a fragrant nose of ripe red berries, black cherry, garrigue, and a whisper of spice — classic southern Rhône aromatics delivered with real freshness. On the palate it's medium-bodied and approachable, with soft, well-integrated tannins, bright fruit, and a clean, herb-tinged finish that speaks clearly of its chalky clay origins. There's a lightness of touch here that sets it apart from the more structured Réserve — more perfumed, more immediately giving, and completely honest about what it is. The Perrin name at the bottom of the label is not decoration; it is a guarantee.
