Region: Provence, France

Varietal: 100% Tibouren

Tasting Notes: The 2021 Cotes de Provence Rose Cuvée Speciale des Vignettes was produced with the oldest Tibouren vines of Clos Cibonne and matured in old barrels. It has a delicate, refined bouquet with aromas of spring flowers, garrigue, red berries, vanilla bean and iodine as well as delicate oaky hints. Medium to full-bodied, lively and delicate, it has a lively, fine acidity structure and perfectly well-integrated oaky notes. Perfectly ripe, it will offer a broad drinking window.

Producer: Clos Cibonne, a historic gem in the world of wine, has been setting itself apart since the Roux family purchased the property in 1793. Originally owned by a captain in Louis XVI's royal marines, the estate rose to prominence under André Roux, who planted the rare tibouren grape and created the iconic labels still in use today. His dedication to quality helped establish Clos Cibonne as one of the 18 Cru Classés of Côtes de Provence. Over the centuries, the estate has remained steadfast in its commitment to crafting age-worthy rosés, earning a cult status among French wine enthusiasts. Today, under the stewardship of fifth-generation winemaker Olivier Deforges, Clos Cibonne continues to shine as one of Provence's most respected wineries.

Vineyard & Winemaking: The vineyards of Clos Cibonne are as unique as the wines they produce. Situated just 800 meters from the Mediterranean Sea, the estate's 15 hectares are nestled in a natural amphitheater that allows for perfect grape maturation. The oldest vines, over 60 years old, are organically cultivated and goblet-trained, producing the grapes for the iconic Cuvée Spéciale des Vignettes. This wine is crafted through a meticulous process: after manual harvest, the grapes undergo a slow fermentation before being aged for a year under a thin veil of yeast in 120-year-old foudres. The result is a rosé with exceptional balance, structure, and the ability to age gracefully for over a decade, a true testament to the timeless winemaking traditions of Clos Cibonne.
