Region: Bordeaux, France
Varietal: 51% Semillon, 49% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting notes: White grapefruit, citrus, and hints of crushed mint all emerge from the 2017 Le Blanc Sec De Suduiraut. This juicy, racy, lively dry white has medium-bodied richness, a touch of minerality, terrific purity and a great finish. It should drink nicely for over a decade.
Producer: Along with Château d’Yquem and Château Rieussec, Château Suduiraut is one of the truly iconic wineries of Sauternes. On 18 April 1855 the estate was classed as a Premier Cru during the official wine classification programme in the Gironde winegrowing area. The vineyard’s 92 hectares are on a sandy, gravelly soil whose stones capture the heat of the sun, helping the grapes to ripen more quickly. It is this unique terroir that gives the wine its outstanding opulence.
Vineyard and Winemaking: To produce this wine, they selected a specific plot of Château Suduiraut vineyard, planted mainly with Semillon vines. The fine gravel and sandy terroir brings out fruit aromas and a beautiful freshness to the wine.
