Region: Bekaa Valley, Lebanon
Varietal: 85% Cinsault, 15% Mourvedre
Tasting Notes: This pale salmon-hued rosé opens with aromas of wild strawberry, white peach, and orange blossom. On the palate, it’s juicy and textural, with notes of red berries, citrus zest, and a hint of spice, underpinned by a stony, mineral edge. Lively and dry with a long, mouthwatering finish, it’s a wine that shines with food but needs no excuse to open.
Producer: Château Musar stands as one of Lebanon’s most iconic wineries, renowned for its resilience and commitment to quality amidst challenging circumstances. Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, the estate gained international acclaim under the stewardship of his son, Serge Hochar, who was named Decanter's first "Man of the Year" in 1984 for his dedication to winemaking during Lebanon's tumultuous civil war. The ‘Jeune’ line, launched in 2006, was created to offer a fresh perspective on Musar’s distinctive terroir—wines that are vibrant, expressive, and fruit-driven, appealing to those who appreciate purity and immediacy without sacrificing character.
Vineyard & Winemaking: The 2022 ‘Jeune’ Rosé is made from organically farmed Cinsault and Mourvèdre, grown in the high-elevation vineyards of the Bekaa Valley at around 1,000 meters. The altitude brings natural freshness to the wine, while the valley’s limestone soils contribute structure and minerality. Produced using the saignée method, this rosé undergoes fermentation in concrete vats with no oak, preserving the brightness of the fruit and the clarity of place. It is bottled young, showcasing the winery’s ability to craft wines that are both approachable and unmistakably Musar.
