Region: Galicia, Spain

Varietal: 100% Godello

Tasting note:  If you’re in the mood for a crisp, refreshing white this Godello is a great choice! Vinified entirely is stainless steel tanks, with no malolactic fermentation, this wine is all about the bright, pure fruit profile and some terrific acidity. Lemon and pear notes on the nose turn to deeper melon and peach flavors on the palate. The citrusy profile lingers and there’s a touch of ginger spiciness on the long, refreshing finish. This would be perfect with all types of seafood!

Producer:  Ladera Sagrada has the largest holdings of vineyard land in the Valdeorras appellation, and the bodega makes wine using only the best 20% of its grapes. The rest of the given year's harvest is sold in bulk to other neighboring producers. Ladera Sagrada can source the best quality of grapes in Valdeorras and it has the ability to make the best wine values because it doesn't need to buy grapes from other growers.

Vineyard and Winemaking:  The fruit here is all estate owned and organically grown in the Valdeorras DO region of northwest Spain. Valdeorras is located in the region of Galicia which sits right “above” Portugal along the Atlantic coast. Godello has become one of the most important indigenous varietals in all of Spain, and has experienced a major revival in the last 20 years. It is now viewed as a worthy alternative to more well known Spanish whites like Albariño and Txakolina.
